Miike Snow in NYC

Last week, Swedish band Miike Snow graced Terminal 5 with its presence for 3 nights in a row and I was lucky enough to catch the final night. Lead singer Andrew Wyatt provided the dark dance-pop vocals that had the whole place going nuts. From before they even took the stage, the fog was bellowing into the crowd, reflecting that hollow atmosphere fans have come to love from Miike Snow.

Producers Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, collectively known as Bloodshy & Avant, provided the melodic bass-filled beats that had the crowd dancing the entire set. They played a few tracks off their new album Happy to You, but then ripped trough cuts off their self-titled debut album that got the crowd pumped. Classic Snow tracks like “Black & Blue” & “Silvia” got everyone jumping.

The show easily looked as cool as it sounded, and Sophia (trashbagblack.com) did a beautiful job capturing the atmosphere in her photos below.

They closed out the show with an encore of their track, “Animal”. Wyatt provided echoing, powerful lyrics absent in much pop music today.

His chorus from “Animal“:

I change shapes just to hide in this place but I’m still, I’m still an animal
Nobody knows it but me when i slip yeah i slip
I’m still an animal
